Filing a Probate Notice to Creditors

At the end of the body of the Notice section is a “fill-in” space entitled “Date of First Publication of this Notice: _____.”
Leave this fill-in space blank, as you won’t know that date until after you have:

• Filed the original of your Probate Notice to Creditors with the Court,
• Submitted a copy of it to the newspaper for publication, and
• Had it published.

After you have verified that it has been first published, you will:

• Write the date of first publication in this space,
• Make copies of that resulting document, and
• Send a copy to each possible creditor of the estate, putting them on actual notice that:
  • The probate has begun, and
  • They are required to submit a Creditor’s Claim within the Statute of Limitations period or be forever barred.  See II. Administering the Probate Estate > B. Handling Creditor’s Claims.
